I have spent in the Independente only 1 night, but it was really wonderful! The hostel has great location, friendly staff, clean and nice rooms. And bar and restaurant are also fantastic. Thanks a lot!!!
I will come back!

We have never been to a better hostel (it beats most hotels hands-down too). What’s so special? Apart from its central location, cleanliness and stylishness it is above all the friendliness and efficiency of the (multi-lingual) staff which sets it apart. We could not have felt more welcomed. It has a great atmosphere – the restaurant buzzes with guests and locals, the bar has live music (most nights we were there) and the lounge area is a great place to chill. We are in our 40′s but there were guests of all ages. Great hostel in a great city – we’ll be back!!!!

L’INDEPENDENT porte bien son nom:
C’est,manifestement, l’endroit où l’on peut sentir la liberté et l’ouverture d’esprit que les Portugais veulent communiquer à leurs hôtes, dans le respect de la tradition d’hospitalité légendaire de ce “grand petit pays”. J’y suis bien, dès le matin, boostée par la voix chaleureuse de Césaria Evora (elle se reconnaîtra), j’y suis bien le soir, lorsqu’au bar deux/trois musiciens viennent gratter la guitare…avec talent,tout simplement.
J’ai la sensation d’être chez des amis de toujours que j’ai plaisir à retrouver; j’espère seulement que nous seront toujours autant à apprécier ce lieu, le respecter afin de continuer cette belle histoire. l’INDEPENDENT, c’est là que l’on sent vivre l’actualité culturelle au présent, avec l’amour pour Lisbonne en partage. Compliments à tous ceux qui font de cet endroit, un coeur battant.
